At a little less than three years before the start of the Vendée Globe 2024, the number of boats available for sale or charter reduces from week to week. Tip & Shaft took time to investigate what good Imocas are still available.
Fourth in the last Vendée Globe, Jean Le Cam’s ambition is to set off again on a sixth consecutive Vendée Globe – he will then be 65 years old – sailing aboard a “simple and accessible” Imoca which he hopes to start building as soon as possible if he can find supporting partners. The Vendée Globe 2020-2021 prize giving ceremony took place on Saturday in Les Sables d’Olonne, and as such is a great opportunity for Tip & Shaft to take stock of this ninth edition, seen from the side of the skippers’ sponsors. Last Thursday, Yannick Bestaven won the Vendée Globe, crossing the finish in third place after Charlie Dalin and Louis Burton, but benefiting from a redress of 10 hours and 15 minutes for taking part in the operation to rescue Kevin Escoffier.
